Two years after his last exhibition, Kinshasa-based artist Doudou Mbemba opened “Libanda” in neighboring Brazzaville. In Lingala, one of the most popular langugages in both countries, “Libanda” means outside/exterior. Throughout the 20 paintings that make up this exhibit, the artist is confronting the duality of the inside and the outside, what we see and what we let people see; the yin and the yang, what the eytes see, and what the minds sees.
