Wess Itshiri carries out a work aimed at highlighting a positive vision of the world, a world in which some want to emphasize our differences and our divergences. Anxiety, sorrow, sadness cannot be read in these pictures, although the subjects represented are defined in difficult situations. These paintings are calls for combativity, for love, for hope, for simplicity between two beings who expect nothing in return except friendship for one another.
Through his works, Itshiri invites us to question one’s self and the other through human bodies, sometimes deconstructed, sometimes incomplete, never perfect, to remind one who looks at the complexity of man and the universe in which we Live.
Son of a known painter in Kinshasa, Itshiri managed not to be a “photocopy” of his father, but has succeeded and has continued to trace his own path, reaping the fruit and energy from his bustling city of residence, Kinshasa.
